"If only I knew then, what I know now"... Here's your chance!

Ecclesiastes 11:9  (New Living Translation) "9 Young people,[a] it’s wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do."

The road of life does not always take us where we expect.  For many of us there is a great desire and longing to do something with our lives.  We have our dreams and wishes.  We waited a long time for independence, it is our turn to make the decisions,  take actions and forge our own way through the world.  When others stand in our way, we just tune them out because we know what is going on and we don't need anyone to tell us what to do!  We have our whole lives ahead of us, we have a long time live it up, and do our own thing. Or....do we?   But wait a minute, where did 10 whole years go? This isn't where I hoped to be in my life?  I thought I had plenty of time.....15 years... Wow, I had so much time, but what do I have to show for it?  Oh my, it's 25 years now and I can't understand where all the time has gone! Why are things the way they are? It has been 40 whole years...Oh no! All this time, and I finally understand what it was all about.  But what can I do at this point in my life?   If only I had known then what I know now, I would have done things so much differently.

The older folks always say that "youth" is wasted on the young.  Us old people find ourselves longing for the earlier days when life was fresh and new.

If only I could go back.  No one ever told me how difficult it would be without a college degree.  I sure wish I had been more careful with money.  If only I would have had a closer relationship with God, then I wouldn't have lost the one that I loved.  Why didn't I have the wisdom to do what was right and stand my ground when it counted?

The bible says that: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." Proverbs 1:7  If we don't seek the will God early, our own "will" takes our lives down a stony road. Ecclesiastes 12:1
"Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them"-

God has a plan for each one of us and for everone who chooses to remember God early, He will also give them all that is promised.  Ezekiel 16:60 "Yet I will remember the covenant I made with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you."

No one can make our choices for us. God does not impose his will on anyone, but if anyone chooses to yield theirs to His, He will honor their effort and release blessings.  Success is not something you can just wish for. There has to be a series of right decisions to get us where we should be in life.  If we do our own thing, it is has its own risk.  When entrust ourselves to God, he will lead us to the right choices.  Wisdom is what wisdom does. Rather than making a whole lot of mistakes on our own , why not involve God in our decisions?

Proverbs 3:4-6 (New Living Translation) "4 Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation. 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;do not depend on your own understanding.  6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take."
